The 4:00–7:00pm window offers golden hour light, warm air temperatures, and the romantic atmosphere of watching the sun drop toward the Ko'olau Mountains. The light is flattering, the colors are extraordinary, and the mood is naturally intimate. If you're planning to have someone photograph the moment, a sunset charter is the best choice.

Morning Charter

Crisp air, calm seas, and the fresh energy of early morning on the Pacific. Diamond Head glows in the eastern light. If your partner loves mornings and nature over romance-by-candlelight, a morning proposal on the bow of the catamaran — perhaps with dolphins visible in the distance — can be just as powerful.

Step-by-Step Planning

Step 1 — Contact the Team Early

Call or email the Island Jewel team and let them know you're planning a proposal. They've done this before and will keep your secret completely. Give them as much detail as you can: preferred date, time of day, how many guests (or just the two of you), and any specific vision you have.

Step 2 — Decide: Private or With Loved Ones

Some of the most memorable proposals happen with just two people aboard — the moment is intimate, undivided, and yours alone. Others prefer the joy of having family or close friends witness it, with the celebration continuing onboard afterward. Both are completely possible. The Island Jewel accommodates up to 13 guests.

Step 3 — Plan the Moment

The bow of the catamaran is the classic spot — open, elevated, with Diamond Head or open ocean as the backdrop. The cockpit works beautifully for a more intimate setting. Talk to the crew about where you'd like to be when you ask, and they'll make sure the boat is positioned and the moment is set up.
